Lough Neagh Rescue to host fun day raft race at Ardboe Station

As well as its famous annual barbecue and fun day, this year, Lough Neagh Rescue is to hold its first ever LNR Raft Race in Ardboe.

Rafts will be provided for the challenge, which is open to nine teams from any organisation that wishes to put its best six forward, you need only donate £50 to the charity to take part.

Taking place on the life-saving charity’s Sunday fun day on July 26 at Battery Harbour in Ardboe - the winning team will take away the Jerome Crozier Shield, as well as the respect of everyone they beat. Do you dare go up against some of Lough Neagh’s finest boatmen?

Also on the day, those who come along will get the chance to see LNR crews in action, talk to the Coastguard and may even be lucky enough to see the Coastguard helicopter.

Children will be treated to a magic show, get the chance to visit a petting farm, can have a go at the climbing wall or join in the children’s football and camogie tournament or a competition for the best dressed teddy, while the adults can take part in a tug ‘o war.

The lough’s best pollen, eels, perch and trout will all be on offer at the Saturday night barbecue at Battery Bar [July 25].
