Loughaghery Church to hold flower festival

A FLOWER Festival will take place over three days at Loughaghery Presbyterian Church on Friday June 10 from 2pm to 8pm; Saturday June 11 10am to 8pm and Sunday June 12 2pm to 6pm and closing with a Praise Service at 7pm.

The floral arrangements and decoration of the church will be arranged by members from the Northern Ireland Group of Flower Arrangement Societies, (NIGFAS) under the direction of Mrs Barbara Megarry, in the recently refurbished and extended Church building.

Barbara has belonged to Comber Flower Club since it was founded in 1995 and is a past Chairman and President.

Her work has been featured in Flora Magazine, the Flower Arranger Magazine and the NAFAS booklet “Elements & Principles of Design”.

She has arranged flowers in Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Observance Day in March 2006 and in 2010, with fellow Comber Flower Club arranger Hilda McClements, had the distinction of winning a Silver Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The theme ‘His Church - Our passion’ takes you on a journey to show that the Church is not simply a building constructed by man, rather it is the bringing together of God’s people in whom God has placed a common desire to meet together in His name

Music will be provided by musicians from the church and visiting guests including, on Saturday, Beechgrove Brass Ensemble, an ensemble from Ballylone Flute Band and on Sunday afternoon Balliesmills Accordian Band.

Annahilt Primary School Choir will lead the singing at the closing praise service on Sunday evening.

There will be cake, crafts and plant stalls in the church hall and a display of classic cars in the car park.

Tea/coffee, scones and tray bakes available throughout the weekend in the church hall.

There is no admission charge. Any donations received will go to Loughaghery Building Fund towards the costs of the renovation and extension of the church Building completed and reopened last September.
