Loughshore men found guilty of six illegal fishing charges

TWO Lough-shore men have been fined for illegally fishing salmon and trout.

Gerard Ryan of Ardboe Road, Coagh,and Martin Hagan of Lakeview Cottages, Ardboe appeared at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

They were separately found guilty of six illegal fishing charges including fishing by unlicensed and unfair means, possession of an unlicensed fishing engine, possession of fish of unlawful capture (salmon and trout), the use of monofilament net, possession of immature trout and taking course fish during the weekend closure.

Mr Ryan was fined £1200. He was also ordered to pay costs of £720 and court costs of £10 – a total of £1930.

Mr Hagan was fined £600. He was also ordered to pay costs of £720 and court costs of £10 – a total of £1330.
