LPF urges PSNI, Alliance, Sinn Fein and SDLP councillors to attend meetings

Larne Borough Council chief executive Geraldine McGahey was in attendance, along with aldermen Roy Beggs (UUP) and Jack McKee (TUV), Ulster Unionist deputy Mayor Cllr Mark McKinty and DUP councillors Bobby McKee and Drew Niblock.

They discussed local unemployment and the £100 million A8 upgrade with an audience of around 20 people. A debate on policing was put back to a future meeting because no one from the PSNI turned up, despite “several attempts at contact”, said LPF.

The deplorable condition of Cairndhu House and the efforts of a local group to save it were shared by Stephen Cameron. Local people were encouraged to sign petitions demanding action for Cairndhu House which have been placed at many business premises around the town, or to sign up to an e-petitition on Facebook.

“Many of the issues have subsequently been addressed by Council and policing and community safety partnership members, although others are ongoing,” an LPF statement indicated.

“It is hoped that the community will be more broadly represented at future meetings and Alliance, Sinn Fein and SDLP councillors will accept their invitation to attend,” added the loyalist lobby group.
