Lucy was popular in no matter what circles she worked

Lucy was born in Dromore in 1926 and came to Banbridge after she married Victor, who sadly predeceased her five years ago.

Unfortunately tragedy struck early into their married lives when they lost their eldest daughter Carol at the age of four.

Lucy as she was affectionately known to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her was deeply devoted to her family Trevor, Howard, Stephen and Valerie.

For some time Lucy was employed at the Abercorn Primary School and after this until her retirement she worked at The Iveagh Cinema.

She was very popular in no matter what circles she worked.

Her main interest, however, was centred around her home and family and it is here that her passing will be mostly felt.

She is survived by her sons Trevor, Howard and Stephen (Banbridge) and daughter Mrs Valerie Dines (Bangor), daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and sister Mrs Sadie Taggart.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from her home with a service in Holy Trinity Parish Church at which Captain Geoffrey Walmsley gave an inspiring address to the esteem in which Lucy was held.

The hymns ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and ‘Thine Be The Glory’ were sung. Mr Roly Anketel presided at the organ.

The interment took place afterwards in the New Cemetery.

Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for The Diabetic Association.

William Bell and Co had charge of the funeral arrangements.
