Lughnasa Fair axed

ONE of Carrick’s longest running summer events has been cancelled this year in the wake of funding problems.

A mainstay of the holiday season, the Lughnasa Fair has been taking place at Carrick Castle since 1971.

However, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, which organises the medieval-themed festival, confirmed it has been axed from the 2012 events calendar.
