Luiseach wins Rotary Youth Leadership

For Cross and Passion student, Luiseach Mathers, the chance to participate in Rotary's Youth Leadership competition provided the introduction to bigger and better things!

A member of Ballycastle Rotary Club, Luiseach explained: “I can say that the opportunity given to me by Rotary was one of the best and most memorable experiences in my life and I will be forever grateful. Day one we visited the European Commission Office in Stormont and made it down to Dublin. Wednesday we visited Trinity College, enjoying a tour of the famous seat of learning.

“ We then visited the European Parliament Office in Dublin in which we were presented with our certificates for winning this competition by District Governor Declan. After this we walked to the Mayor’s House and Leinster House and later we made our way to Stephens Green Hibernian Club in which we heard from an array of interesting speakers. On Thursday, we travelled to Strasbourg. The highlight of my trip was not only the wonderful people we met, but also the Euroscola day – where we got to participate in at the EU parliament.

“The experience was phenomenal and I believe that it really developed me as a person.

“Many new friendships were forged and unique challenges faced and overcome. I would urge all eligible students to apply for this wonderful competition and learn more about the world’s number one voluntary organisation - you will not regret it.”
