Lunn calls for safety work at junction

The Alliance member said: “This junction has been a cause for concern for years and recently was the scene of another tragedy.

“It should be a priority for Roads service to improve the junction but to date, despite requests from local councillors and MLAs no plans exist.

“The announcement of the Knockmore link from Sprucefield to Knockmore is welcome news, even if it can only go ahead when funds permit, but it will add to the volume of traffic.

“I will be calling on the Minister to action a junction improvement as a matter of urgency, or to ensure that the new link road does not go ahead without the junction improvement.

“This is one of the most dangerous staggered crossroads in Northern Ireland and we cannot wait until another fatality happens before action is taken.”
