Lunn to contest Lagan Valley for Alliance

LAGAN Valley MLA Councillor Trevor Lunn has been selected to stand for the Alliance Party in Lagan Valley at the forthcoming the Westminster election.

The former Mayor of Lisburn and as the party's education spokesperson has been prominent in organising and chairing current multi-party talks on post-primary transfer.

"I am very proud to have been selected by Alliance to stand in the Westminster election in Lagan Valley," said Mr Lunn.

"I had the honour of being Mayor of Lisburn and I want to serve the city and wider area in Westminster. Alliance offers a fresh approach in contrast to the failed, stale politics of division.

"If I am elected I will step down as an Assembly Member as I would want to devote all my time to representing the area at Westminster," he continued.

"Alliance is always constructive and we do our best to make Stormont work for everyone. People want delivery and are sick of parties fighting between themselves as jobs are being lost here on a daily basis.

"The public are deeply disillusioned; I can understand why and we all have a duty to show them that we can make Northern Ireland politics work," he concluded.

It is being widely predicted the election will take place on Thursday May 6.
