donated £1,400 to PIPS

A Lurgan businessman has donated £1,400 to PIPS Upper Bann PIPS (Public Initiative for Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm).

George Watson, who owns Global Business Design Ltd, presented the cheque to Jackie McCrumm who runs PIPS Upper Bann.

George runs Global Business Design Ltd which is a management training and globalisation consultancy supporting clients in China, Africa and the Middle East, as well as providing training services in the UK and 
Ireland.

However, he has never forgotten his roots particularly after a close friend committed suicide.

George explained why his firm chose PIPS as their company charity in 2014: “One of my best friends suffered depression and eventually committed suicide about 10 years ago.

“I experienced first-hand the trauma that he, his friends and family went through.

“PIPS comes well recommended and we hope that our contribution can support this good cause, especially around Christmas time, which can be a very lonely time for 
many people,” said Mr Watson.

PIPS was established in 2007 with the aim of saving lives and creating awareness and understanding of suicide and self-harm.

PIPS provides support to improve mental health and emotional well-being in our community in the form of:

• Free counselling service for those at risk and those bereaved by suicide • HUSSH (Help understand suicide & self harm) - Training Programme • COOD - Climbing out of Depression. • Helpline 9am - 9pm, 7 days per week for those in need and at risk.
