In a statement club chairman Neill Harvey said, "It is with regret today in our 60th year Lurgan Institute FC will cease to exist.

"We have no other option to fold as we cannot get the numbers and simply haven't enough committed people to keep the club alive.

"We battled hard last year to keep it going and this year although starting brightly in training that has fizzled out also. On a personal note the club has been a big part of my life since I was 16 years of age with many friendships made and fun been had along the way. It was always a great club not many trophies but always fun and Saturdays wont be the same again in my opinion.

"We would like to thank the main club for its help over the years always backing us to the hilt and to all who have helped and tried this last few years especially Paul Davidson, Andrew Cairns and Andrew Dowds and to all the players who battled through this last season and a bit.

"Mentalities are changing these days especially amongst the younger generation. All I will say to them is keep playing for as long as you can as you will regret quitting in later years. There are so many young, capable players out there who are more interested in a bottle of wine on the sidelines. Let me tell you dedicate yourself to a Club and in the long run you will make more mates, have more memorable nights to remember than you think and you will feel part of something and to me there is no better feeling than being part of a club.

"The most important thing to remember folks at this level is to enjoy, let it be your escape after a long week in work, a couple of hours a week to forget your troubles, thats what it is all about."
