Lynn centre work to begin

WORK is due to begin to improve access and usable space at Lynn Community Centre.

Larne Borough Council is to appoint a contractor to carry out the work, which is required to accommodate an expanding programme delivered by the local community association, including a Friday night youth club which is attended by up to 100 children.

The next phase will be to assess the long term needs of the Lynn hall.

Ald Winston Fulton, who has been lobbying for the scheme for six months, had asked the council for “urgent action so that the community group can carry on the good work in the Craigyhill area”.

Chief executive Geraldine McGahey said the minor works scheme had been agreed with the community group, adding: “The next phase of the work will be to put in place the necessary process to develop the long term needs of this facility as part of an overall report on community hall requirements in the borough.”
