Mabel shares a Right Royal Birthday!

That is, of course, the date which sees Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, celebrate her 90th birthday.

And she shares her special day with Mabel Knox, a resident at the Ballymena care home.

To celebrate the home will shine a spotlight and hold a party to celebrate their very own Queen for the day, as Mabel chalks up her 89th birthday.

Mabel lives at Galgorm with her husband Charles, and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

In her younger days Mabel worked locally in the Braidwater Mill (alongside Charles) and enjoyed frequent nights out to dances in the famous Flamingo ballroom.

Mabel has met the Queen on one occasion, and said: “She was a very nice and pleasant lady.”

Lisa McDonald, Home Manager said: “Both Mabeland Charles are fantastic residents, and everyone here at Galgorm can’t wait to celebrate Mabel’s big day with her. I want to take this opportunity to say, happy birthday Mabel, you truly will be our Queen for the day.”
