Macosquin WI 70th Anniversary Dinner

MACOSQUIN Women's Institute celebrated 70 wonderful years by enjoying a delicious meal in Portstewart Golf Club on Wednesday.

The President, Mrs Agnes Kennedy welcomed visitors, members and special guests. Mrs Ethel Patterson, Federation Chairman, brought greetings from the WI Federation and Mrs Margery Thompson, Vice-Chairperson and Lower Bann Area Executive Member, brought good wishes from the Lower Bann area.

Many cards and letters were read from all the Institutes in our area as well as a few from outside the area.

When a short business meeting concluded the guest speaker, Mrs Alison McCaughan, entertained everyone with a detailed reflection on Macosquin WI’s last 70 years and encouraged the members to strive for better memories to look back on in another 70 years.

Agnes proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs McCaughan and presented her, Mrs Patterson and Mrs Thompson with baskets of flowers.

Each member received a programme and an anniversary bookmark as a keepsake. Special thanks was conveyed to all who organised a very enjoyable evening.
