Macosquin WI go radio gaga!

LOCAL broadcaster Rachel Cochrane was the guest speaker at the February meeting of Macosquin WI.

Rachel has completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a radio presenter with the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

Based in Camp Bastion, Rachel gave a vivid picture of the conditions for both civilians and military personnel in the military camp.

Through ther work for BFBS, Rachel told how she tries to boost morale amongst all the residents by connecting them with families and friends back home.

Jennifer Creelman proposed a vote of thanks to Rachel and expressed best wishes for her next tour of duty.

President Georgina Henry congratulated the quiz team, Margaret Kennedy, Anne McKane and Janette Tannahill who finished runners up in the Area Quiz. Eva McClements was also congratulated on her commendable perforance in the Area Bowls competition.

The competition for a blank notelet with envelope was won by Rose Watson with Helen McIntyre and Jennifer Creelman second and third.

After a supper, members took part in a Valentine’s quiz.

The evening closed with ‘A Countrywoman’s song’.

The next meeting with be the annual dinner, which will be held in the Magherabuoy HOuse Hotel in Portrush.
