Magazine lands youth in court

EMBARRASSMENT at buying an adult magazine landed a youth in court in April 1987.

The Lurgan youngster pleaded guilty to the theft of a ‘Men Only’ magazine from Eason in Craigavon Shopping Centre and was given a conditional discharge of three years for the offence.

The court heard that the defendant lifted a magazine which he put inside another, paying for one but not the other. He told police he was just embarrassed at having to pay for it.

His solicitor said he had decided to buy a pop magazine and an adult male magazine. He said he thought the cashier had seen him putting one inside the other and thought he had paid for both of them.
