Kristen Kavanagh won the recent Miss Teen International contest, run by the Ann and Caroline Connor NI school of Modelling.

The 15-year-old Downshire student, who will be going into year 12 this autumn, undertook a six week training course last summer after being approached by Ann to join the school.

Kristen’s mum Pauline said: “Ann was an angel in disguise. We’re so proud of Kristen; she is a natural on the catwalk.

“Her ambition is to stay in modelling and maybe come an air hostess some day.”

As part of her win, Kristen will be supporting Tiny Life, a charity dedicated to reducing premature birth, illness, disability and death in babies born in Northern Ireland.

“She wished to support [the charity] in memory of her baby brother, Sam,” Pauline added. “The care Sam received from the Jubilee Neonatal Unit nearly 17 years ago was amazing and will never be forgotten.”

Meanwhile, at the contest, four-year-old Shaeleigh Faulkner picked up the Little Miss International title, while Maria Devlin was crowned Adult Miss International winner.

All three young ladies will be jetting off to Portugal in mid-November for a professional photoshoot, which will feature in Local Women magazine.
