Maghaberry Pharmacy backs World Diabetes Day

The team at Maghaberry Pharmacy will be promoting World Diabetes Day on Friday 14 November with a weeklong schedule of events for all the family to take part in.

Amanda Sherry said: ‘As a pharmacy we are at the heart of our community and know all too well the amount of families who are impacted by diabetes so that is why we felt it was important to highlight World Diabetes Day. We wanted to do something locally to support families and individuals living with the condition so we are excited about the busy schedule we have planned starting on Monday 10 November running right through to Saturday 15 November.

Please call into Maghaberry Pharmacy to pick up information about diabetes, whether it is Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes or gestational diabetes, we are here to help and advise. On Thursday 13 November we will have a First Aid Trainer talk about spotting the signs of hypos and hypers, taking place in store from 6-7pm and everyone is welcome.

On Friday 14 November we will be joined by the Diabetes UK Northern Ireland team who will be helping us do risk assessments for Type 2 diabetes during a coffee morning until 12 noon. In the afternoon we have face painters from 3pm – 5pm so bring the kids along so they can ‘go blue’ for diabetes campaign.

To finish off the week you are invited to join our ‘Insanity Workout’ on Saturday 15 November from 11am – 12 noon in Maghaberry Community Centre with an entry fee of £5. The first 50 will receive a free Diabetes UK blue hair fun wig. To book your place call Sam Bradford on 07525 203 276.’

Hopefully this World Diabetes Day will see more people learning about diabetes and what they can do to help manage their condition.
