Maghaberry women welcome Fields of Life speaker

The meeting got under way at the new start time of 7.45pm.

A spokesperson said: “The president introduced Beth Brown, a Fields of Life support worker, who gave an interesting and informative talk on her recent trip to Uganda with the ‘I am Girl’ group to distribute hygiene packs and to teach local teenagers.

“The Maghaberry WI craft group had been involved in the summer with sewing pads to be included in the packs.”

Following supper, members Laura, Avril and Sharon were chosen to represent Maghaberry WI in the upcoming Area Quiz on February 6

Marie Burgess; won the competition - for an African item - with Judith Byrne in second place and Joanne Hughes third.

Birthday girl was Ina Watson.

The ballot winners were Ann Henning, Viola Greer and Sharon Coulter.

“The evening finished with a rousing chorus of the Countrywomen’s Song,” the spokesperson added.
