Cllr McFalone who proposed the substantial funding allocation to meet important running costs said: “Council is pleased to be able to support Riding for Disabled, an important Maghera based charity that offers many young people and adults living with disabilities an opportunity to participate and learn the skills of horse riding. “My party colleague Cllr Brian McGuigan who seconded my proposal to fund this important therapuetic service, and I were delighted to have council support the charity by making a considerable donation of £10,000, which will be used for the care of the horses as well as the maintenance of facilities at the centre.

“I wish to take this opportunity to commend all the volunteers at The Fort Centre who provide a vital community service and I know from my own involvement with those tasked with managing the key community service, that this donation granted by Magherafelt District Council will certainly assist with meeting the annual running costs incurred at the centre.”
