Legally, anyone in the UK can carry out these kinds of treatments and the industry has come under huge pressure to provide protection for patients from cowboy practitioners.

Save Face, which launched recently, is the first organisation in the UK to provide a register of accredited practitioners – all of which have been visited and assessed for professionalism, qualifications and safety to give patients peace of mind when booking treatments.

The Sperrin Clinic, is the first clinic in Northern Ireland to have the Save Face accreditation.

The clinic is run by Dr Mark Holloway who has been practising aesthetics for over 3 years.

The Sperrin Clinic offers a comprehensive menu of safe and effective treatments for a range of cosmetic problems, anti-wrinkle treatments being most in demand.

Dr Mark Holloway, who graduated from Aberdeen University and is also a qualified general practitioner, said: “Save Face is filling a huge gap in the non-invasive cosmetic treatment market. For years, the industry has desperately needed some form of regulation and guidance. Consumers do not know right from wrong when it comes to this industry but with Save Face they can feel self-assured about where to go and gain the knowledge to make an informed decision. This accreditation will help give consumers the confidence to seek better clinics and expect higher standards.
