Maghera Historical Society hold competition for a place in their time capsule

Guest speaker will be Dr Bill Macafee the very well known lecturer, researcher, historian academic and author of many historical books.

He is renowned for his research into and the recording of family life and its ancestry in the South Derry, Mid Ulster area.

The top table will also include the Vice-Chairperson of Magherafelt District Council.

The results of the photographic competition for inclusion in the Time Capsule will be announced and a medal and certificate awarded to the top exhibit in each age group.

A spokesperson for the Historical Society said: “Many of the local schools have taken part but we would like to encourage more young people and adults to submit a photograph and become involved with this project.

“We are asking everyone to just record a moment in their life which they feel would be of interest to their great great grandchildren and send it to [email protected]

“On the day we will also have a Vintage Postcard Display, Cine Footage of Old Maghera, an Exhibition of artefacts relating to the Linen Industry and we will show all the photographs received so far for the Capsule.”
