Maghera man given suspended jail sentence for having baseball bat in public place

A Maghera man accused of possessing an offensive weapon - a baseball bat - in a public place, was given a two-month suspended jail sentence at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.

Paul O’Donnell, of Meetinghouse Avenue, admitted having the bat at Maghera on October 31 2014.

District Judge Alan White commented that the pre-sentence report “appears to be positive.”
