“McErlain’s Bakery has expanded significantly over the last number of years and is now a major employer in Mid-Ulster.

“The Genesis Crafty brand is continuing to build a strong reputation locally and further afield, and indeed was last year recognised at the Guild of Fine Food ‘UK Great Taste Awards’, whilst the company also supply quality products to some of the major UK supermarkets.”

Mrs Overend, the Ulster Unionist Party spokesperson for the Economy, continued: “The funding provided by DARD, under its EU processing and marketing grant scheme, and Invest NI, alongside their own significant investment, shows commendable vision and ambition and will allow McErlain’s to forge ahead in what is a very competitive industry.

“I commend the Executive for the funding that they have provided in this instance, and wish McErlain’s Bakery continued success as they develop new products, advance into further export markets and continue to build for the future.

“It is essential that the Executive continue to encourage and support investment in our local businesses for the provision of job creation, and to ensure that they can compete in a global market.”
