Magherafelt man caught on CCTV throwing punches in nightclub

Jonathan Woodward (23), of Grange Lane, Magherafelt, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour on January 25 this year.

A PPS lawyer said police spoke to the defendant after being approached by three males who told them about the incident inside the nightclub.

Counsel said defendant denied any involvement but CCTV footage obtained by police showed him punching the injured party twice to the head with his fist.

Defence solicitor Stephen Atherton stressed that Woodward came from a highly respected family in the Magherafelt area.

Mr Atherton pointed out that Woodward had not started the fight and this explained why the injured party had not made a written complaint.
