Magherafelt police get stick online for picture of officer in road with no ‘Hi-Vis’ vest
Magherafelt PSNI came in for a bit of stick after posting an image of a police officer appearing to stop traffic in the middle of Ballynease Road - with no high visibility clothing in sight.
The picture, which was posted to the PSNI Magherafelt Facebook page, went up on Saturday with the message: “Magherafelt LPT conducting VCP’s in Bellaghy targeting rural machinery and livestock thefts.”
A concerned member of the public commented: “Surely that officer should be wearing Hi-Vis clothing if he is stopping live traffic!?
“Or maybe this was a quick photo opportunity for Facebook public relations purposes!?”
A woman stood up for the officer, adding: “There is no pleasing some people.”
