Magheralin company awarded three-star status in IEA scheme

Magheralin-based Boyce Engineering has achieved a significant award in a prestigious recognition scheme.

The firm of precision engineers achieved three-star recognition in the Ireland Excellence Awards run by the Centre for Competitiveness .

The Magheralin-headquartered company received its accolade at a ceremony in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, Bangor.

Up to 16 other organisations from Ireland were also presented with various levels of recognition, including charity Kare, which achieved five- star status, alongside Denroy Plastics Ltd.

Newtownards-based Tech Metals, a firm of aluminium finishers with clients across the UK, also received three- star recognition, alongside Doran Engineering.

Other winners included voluntary sector organisations such as Autism Initiative NI, and Stepping Stones NI.

Winners have undergone rigorous examination and must illustrate their employees’ dedication, low absenteeism, high productivity, customer satisfaction and superior financial performance, amongst other things.

Centre for Competitiveness Chief Executive, Bob Barbour, said: “This year’s award recipients represent a range of industries and sectors, but they all have a commitment to ensure excellence is an integral part of what they do, so I warmly congratulate them on their achievements. Established by the private sector, the Centre for Competitiveness is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation, dedicated to actively supporting the development of an internationally competitive economy through innovation, productivity improvement and quality excellence in the private, public and voluntary sectors and to build best-in-class performance through International Leadership across all sectors.

The Ireland Excellence Awards process is based on the world class EFQM Excellence Model, incorporating different levels of recognition.

Since 1991, over 30,000 European organisations, from the private, public and voluntary sectors have used the EFQM Model as their blueprint and driver of competitiveness.

Levels of recognition include: Ireland Excellence Award, Recognized for Excellence EFQM five star, four star and three star Awards, Committed to Excellence, and the EFQM Gold Star Service Excellence.
