Magheralin Parish has successful fun evening

PLANTERS Park was the place to be last Friday evening as Magheralin Parish hosted their free community fun evening.

Magheralin Parish, which covers the villages of both Magheralin and Dollingstown, has over the past number of years reached out to the community through their ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ initiative, the ‘Red Door’ Youth Centres and Christians Against Poverty.

The church reached out again to the community on Friday night as they hosted a very successful fun evening where everything was provided free of charge.

Following an invite issued to every home in the parish, around 1,000 people enjoyed a free barbecue including drinks and delicious desserts along with a wide range of activities from puppets, bouncy castle, trial bikes, the police and fire brigade displays and even a mountain bike leaping over the Mayor.

The large crowd enjoyed further entertainment from the Red Door Hip Hop Dance Crew and the Drama Team.

Craigavon Borough Council was represented by the Mayor Stephen Moutray along with fellow council representatives Dolores Kelly and George Savage.

Rev Gareth Harron, the Rector of Magheralin, commented: “We are delighted to see such a huge crowd from both villages enjoying a fantastic evening. As a church we must strive to meet the needs of our community and show the love of Jesus in a practical way.”

Thanks were given to all those who organised this successful event and plans are already underway for next year.
