Magical evening for full house at New-Bridge

Paul Ormonde and his dazzling assistant Perri were in full flight as the Loughbrickland audience joined in the fun and mystery.

This is the sixth show Paul Ormonde has performed in the Banbridge area and he said: “I’m never disappointed by the crowd here and the Thursday night audience were certainly out for a good time.”

The show opened with members of the College Drama department performing musical numbers which included Puttin on The Ritz and Cabaret followed by a beautiful solo by Alanna McCourt. The pupils looked slick, complete with top hats and canes.

During the Magic Show a member of the audience was sawn in two with ropes, others inspected the magic boxes before the illusions were performed in a show which combined the classics of magic and modern mystery too.

The true magic of the evening was to be seen on the faces of both young and old as Paul Ormonde, a member of the Exclusive Magic Circle London, cast his spell across the footlights. For over an hour the impossible was seen live before the appreciative crowd.

“You may watch magic on television,” Paul explained “but there is nothing like seeing it live”.

One member of the audience noted that Paul Ormonde makes no fast moves and performs all his mysteries with his sleeves rolled up.

Paul said: “No quickness of the hand in my show, and nothing up my sleeve”.

Paul thanked the Drama Department for the invitation to the College.

Teachers Mrs Melissa Warnock and Mrs Dawn Manson were praised by him for all the help given to make the entire show a success.

This show raised hundreds of pounds for the Drama Department’s next production which will be The Crucible by Arthur Millar and will be performed on December 8th and 9th in the school assembly hall.
