At his selection convention in Glenravel Mr. Maguire thanked all those who had selected him to go forward as the Sinn Féin candidate in the next election saying: “I was honoured and privileged to have been elected to Ballymena Council by the citizens of the Braid in the last election and I am equally honoured and privileged to be selected by Sinn Féin activists in this area to contest the next election to the new super Council.

“Sinn Féin have been very active on the ground over the last four years working on behalf of everybody and we hope to carry on this good work in the Mid and East Antrim Council. This is obviously a bigger Council covering a wider geographical area and it will need strong local representation for the people of the Braid which I will hope to provide.”

“ I am looking forward to the coming months between now and May engaging with constituents and putting forward my record on Ballymena Council along with the record of Sinn Féin locally and Nationally.”

Mr Maguire concluded by urging everyone to make sure that they returned their electoral registration forms to make sure they were entitled to vote at the next election.
