Maiden City Festival programme launched

THE Maiden City Festival 7-14 August, Londonderry, has launched its programme for 2010.

It is a packed week of great and diverse performance in music, dance and drama within and around the historic Walls of Londonderry. Over 70,000 programmes will be distributed in local papers over the coming weeks: in the News Letter next Tuesday, July 13, in the Londonderry and Roe Valley Sentinel on Wednesday, July 21, and in the Derry Journal on Friday, July 23. Dates for the Good Afternoon at the Mem Tea Dances in the print version should read Monday 9 to Thursday, August 12, still 2.30pm-4.30pm.

A spokesman said: “The Maiden City Festival is Northern Ireland's flagship celebration of diversity. Our aim is to promote understanding of history and heritage, community, and the celebration of diversity in cultural expression. The Maiden City Festival is pleased to support the city’s UK City of Culture 2013 bid.

“The Festival greatly appreciates the generous funding of the Department of Foreign Affairs (RoI), Derry City Council, Derry City Council Community Festival Fund (for DCAL), Peace III North West Cluster, the Ulster Scots Agency and the Community Relations Council.”
