Mail launches search for Person to be Proud of

Firmus are supporting the ‘Person To Be Proud Of’ competition which is running through Johnston Press newspapers across the province, after it reached a milestone of 50,000 customers.

Michael Scott, general manager for firmus energy, explains: “We are delighted that 50,000 customers have chosen to connect to the cost-saving and environmental benefits of firmus energy natural gas throughout Northern Ireland. This is a real milestone for firmus energy and we want to thank each and every one of our customers within our local communities.

“As we extend our gas network even further, such as to Bushmills, Bessbrook and Ballyclare, more and more people are opting to switch to natural gas.

“As well as being around 31 per cent cheaper than home heating oil, natural gas can contribute to cleaner air for the area as it is the most environmentally-friendly fossil fuel emitting less carbon emissions into the atmosphere than other fuel alternatives.

“We are delighted to support the ‘Person To Be Proud Of’ competition that will be running in the Lurgan Mail and we hope that it will highlight a lot exceptional individuals living and working in the local area.

“We are looking forward to hearing about people from Lurgan who go that extra mile, whether they carry out good deeds for someone or if they regularly give up their own time and energy to benefit others within the community.”

Firmus energy employs around 90 people in its Antrim headquarters and prides itself on its customer service.

“In fact, firmus energy was noted as having the highest level of customer service among any regulated energy company in Northern Ireland, according to the Consumer Council Complaints Report.”

Mr Scott added, “We invest heavily in our teams and try to create opportunities to acknowledge those that go above and beyond what is expected of them. We also know that there are thousands of unsung heroes across Northern Ireland for whom helping others is a way of life.

“This competition aims to recognise just some of those individuals and highlight how their selfless actions benefit other local people.”
