Major event held in Mid Ulster to showcase tourism

More than 40 local tourism and hospitality businesses turned out to a networking event organised by Mid Ulster District Council on Tuesday.

The aim of the day was to create greater awareness of what the region has to offer visitors, while forging new relationships and maybe even partnerships between businesses in the sector.

Accommodation providers and any businesses that have an activity or attraction, run tours or provide hospitality across the Mid Ulster area were invited to attend.

Speakers at the event included senior representatives from both Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

Opening the event, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Linda Dillon said: “As tourism is an extremely important growth area for the council in terms of the local economy, it is great to see such a fantastic turnout with so many local tourism and hospitality businesses attending.

“I hope that as a result of today’s event, businesses will identify links and discover opportunities for working together in the future that will enhance the overall tourism potential in our region.”
