Major honour for Ballymena doctor

A Ballymena man who has been a leading figure in the development of cardiology services has been honoured.

In a glowing tribute to his life work in the development of Cardiology care, Dr Albert McNeill has been made the President of the Irish Cardiac Society for the next two years.

This is a hugely significant role as the society is now recognised globally as a leading organisation in the development of Cardiology care and treatment.

Dr McNeill has worked his way from his Ballymena origins across Europe to settle in Altnagelvin Hospital, Londonderry where he has dedicated his career to progressing Cardiology in the West of Ireland.

Dr McNeill attended Ballymena Academy before graduating from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1982. He is married to Frances, who is a pharmacist and has 3 children, one of whom is a junior doctor.
