Major illegal fuel seizure at farmyard in Castledawson

Using their Facebook page, PSNI Magherafelt stated: “Taking an interest in what is going on around you can help us combat crime.

“An example of that was shown in the Castledawson area just this week when local people reported suspicious vehicles.

“On a visit to a farmyard at Bellshill Road, we came across two lorries. In the back of one were several 1,000 litre ‘pods’ of red diesel, and in the back of the other was a 10,000 litre pod.

“Our colleagues from Revenue and Customs are investigating further, but the seizure probably prevented the red diesel entering the market for illegal fuel.

“Thanks go to those who helped us with the valuable information.”
