Residents and business owners attended a meeting in the town’s Bridewell this week to hear details of the work which is expected to take around three weeks to complete.

Roads Service say disruption will be kept to a minimum with most of the work being carried out using a Stop/ Go sign or traffic lights.

However, the street will be closed to traffic on Saturday, September 6, to allow resurfacing.

Footpaths will also be reconstructed as part of the work from the Chapel to the junction of Fairhill with Aughrim Road.

A similar scheme will take place at Hospital Road on September 23, however there is not expected to be the same level of disruption for road users.

While welcoming the work, DUP Councillor Anne Forde said local residents and business owners had expressed concerns about parking.
