Kevin Wilson said: “At this time of year in particular, feelings of loneliness can be even more pronounced but we can all make a difference to the lives of older relatives, neighbours and friends.

“Age NI’s ‘No-one should have no-one at Christmas’ campaign highlights the issue of loneliness in later life and encourages us all to look out for older people we know.

“Just lift the phone to say hello, call by for a chat, help a neighbour bring in their bins, or offer a lift to the shops, older people tell us often that little gestures can make a big difference.

“Age NI shops support the work of the charity by providing invaluable income through sales and donations. Help Age NI to support people who are facing later life alone by popping into our shop for a thrifty Christmas outfit or festive gift. We have a great range of new and pre-loved clothes and homeware.”

“ And if you’re having a pre-Christmas clear out, please drop your unwanted items into our store at 7 West Street, Carrickfergus BT38 7AR – we’d be delighted to see you!’
