The Making Music team tutors, among them Linley Hamilton and Nick Scott, both highly accomplished musicians on the music scene, are now regular summer callers in Cookstown.

Each year they ‘move in’ to spend a week with budding young musicians passing on their wealth of knowledge and giving an insight into all aspects of the industry.

The workshops cover the skills of song writing and composition, master classes in a range of playing techniques as well as the opportunity to practise and play as part of a group. The concert for family and friends on the last day is always the highlight of the week.

The workshops are open to anyone aged 13 and above, who can play any musical instrument or sing.

Sessions run from 10 am to 4pm daily Monday to Friday and the total cost is £45 for the week. You can sign up via the Burnavon Box Office on 867 69949 option 1, or if you want to find out more or check that the Making Music Workshops are for you, just ring Mary on 867 69949 option 4.

The Making Music Workshops are delivered as part of the Arts and Cultural Development Plan of Cookstown District Council.
