Malysian man arrested

A 46-year-old Malaysian man was arrested when he was discovered working illegally at China Express on Main Street, Crumlin on November 21.

He was one of nine immigration offenders caught following intelligence led operations across Northern Ireland.

The man is in detention awaiting removal from the country.

The business will be served with a notice warning that a civil penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker will be imposed unless proof is provided that the correct checks were carried out.

Mike Golden, of the Immigration Enforcement Team, said: “As these operations show, we are working hard to arrest and remove those who abuse the UK’s immigration system.”
