Man, 44, faces Glenarm murder attempt charge

A MAN who allegedly carried out a gun attack at a house near Glenarm has been charged with attempted murder.

Robert John Nelson, of Knowehead Hill, Broughshane, was arrested after shots were fired through the front window of a property in the Drumcrow Road area at about 2.45am on Saturday, April 28.

The 44-year-old appeared at Coleraine Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 30 charged with attempting to murder three people. He was also charged with possessing a firearm – namely a shotgun – with intent to endanger life and failing to comply with a condition of a firearms certificate.

Nelson was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Larne Magistrate’s Court on Friday, May 11.

On Saturday, police said they believed that up to four shots had been fired through the window of the house. Three people who were inside the property at the time were uninjured, but left badly shaken.
