Man (57) sent for trial on indecency charges

Henry Martin Joseph Creaney (57), of Churchill Park, Portadown, appeared last Friday at a preliminary enquiry at Craigavon courthouse.

He faces eight charges alleging indecent assault on a female between May 31, 2002, and September 1, 2002, and 12 charges of committing an act of gross indecency with a child.

Creaney appeared in the dock last Friday as the charges were put to him.

When asked if he wanted to say anything in answer to the charges he said, “Definitely not guilty.”

He declined to call witnesses at this stage.

An application to prevent the accused’s name and address being published was turned down by the court.

Creaney was returned for trial on bail, with the condition that he has no contact, directly or indirectly, with the injured party, to Craigavon Crown Court for arraignment on December 13.

A defence certificate for two counsel was granted.
