Man abusive to police officers

A Lurgan man who expressed a low opinion of police in Portadown was bound over to keep the peace when he appeared at last Wednesday’s sitting of Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Twenty-four-year old Brian Hynds, Mourne Road, Lurgan, was bound
over in the sum of £250 for 12 months for disorderly behaviour on January 4 this year.

He was also fined £100 for resisting police and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at 2.50am in Thomas Street, Portadown, Hynds became abusive to police and said ‘f—k off’ to them.

He refused to provide his identification
details and continued to be abusive despite police warnings.

When he was arrested he said: “Portadown cops are b---ds.”

A defending solicitor for Hynds said this was totally out of character.

It was a friend’s birthday and he had taken a considerable amount of drink.

Hynds was embarrassed at what he had done and would apologise to police, added the solicitor.
