Man admits he had a knife and assaulted police officers

Glen King, whose address on the summons was given as Mount Charles, Banbridge, but is living at Russell Drive, Lurgan, appeared last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

A barrister representing him entered pleas of guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, a knife, on July 27 this year and three assaults on police officers.

He told the court that King had been the subject of threats and had underlying health issues.

The barrister said his client would benefit significantly from a pre-sentence report and this would give him time to seek medical information.

He also asked the court to vary King’s bail conditions with his curfew to be from 11pm to 7am and for him to be permitted on licensed premises although not permitted to drink.

District Judge Benita Boyd said King had a relevant record and adjourned sentencing until September 22 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
