Forty-six-year-old Darren Barten, Cambrai Drive, Waringstown, was fined £250 for possession of cannabis resin on March 5 this year and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that a search of the defendant’s home uncovered a small quantity of cannabis resin which he admitted was for his own personal use.

A solicitor for Barten said other persons had taken advantage of him and used an upstairs room which resulted in him receiving a suspended sentence from the Crown Court.

He added that the
defendant continued to use cannabis and was in breach of the sentence.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said it was
regrettable Barten was back in court so soon.

Imposing the fine he said he would refer the matter back to the Crown Court to
deal with the suspended sentence.
