Man appears in court on drugs charges

A Dunmurry man appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court this week charged with growing and supplying cannabis.

David Dowds, 58, from Sunnymede Park, appeared at court charged with possession of a Class B drug, cultivating cannabis and supplying a Class B drug. Dowds was also charged with dishonestly using electricity at his home address.

A police officer said he believed he could connect the defendant with the charges before the court.

Defence said Dowds would plead guilty to three of the four charges. However, he pleaded not guilty to supplying cannabis.The case was adjourned for two weeks to allow a date to be set to contest the charge.
