Man appears on charges relating to wedding photography

He is Brian Byrne, aged 40, of Burn Brae in the town.

A solicitor for Byrne said his client denied all charges and would be contesting them.

At court on Thursday, Byrne, dressed smartly in a navy suit, stood in the dock for the brief hearing.

Two sample charges out of a list of 11 were put to him. All relate to obtaining services dishonestly.

He did not speak during the brief appearance.

The charges involve obtaining services from five individuals.

The first charge read to Byrne was that he obtained services between October 7 and October 12 2013, namely by entering into an agreement with Caroline Smyth that she would provide photography services at a wedding in return for payment of £499, and that when he entered into this agreement it was intended that the payment would not be made or made in full.

The second sample charge related to entering an agreement with Peter Cornwell to provide videography services at a wedding in return for payment of £750.

Byrne was ordered to return to court on March 20 when a date would be fixed for his trial.
