Man arrested after workman threatened in Craigavon released on bail

A man arrested soon after a workman was threatened with a suspected firearm has been released on police bail this afternoon (Wednesday)

The workman was threatened while working at a house in Craigavon yesterday.

He answered a knock at the door of a house in Drumgor Heights where he was working at around 12.40pm.

PSNI detectives said the workman was confronted by a man who pointed a suspected firearm at him and threatened him.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The man forced the door shut in an attempt to stop this male entering the house.

“The male attempted to force his way in to the house before attempting to stab the man with a large knife through the letterbox in the door.

“The male is described as wearing a blue/grey fleece type hooded top, blue jeans and gloves. He made off on foot and the man was not physically injured as a result of the incident.”

A 34 year old man was arrested in the area later on Tuesday afternoon and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Colin Patterson is appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with any information about the incident to contact Detectives in Lurgan on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
