Man arrested following drugs raid at a property in Maghera

Police have arrested a 24-year-old man after a huge amount of Class C and controlled drugs, along with hundreds of pounds in cash were found at a property in Maghera.

The haul was made by Magherafelt Neighbourhood officers during a drugs search in The Hawthornes area of Maghera on Wednesday [April 29].

Pharmaceutical drugs, anabolic steroids and Class C drugs including Benzodiazepines were found during the raid, along with an amount of cash and a number of electronic devices.

Speaking about the raid, Sergeant Sam Young said: “This was an operation designed to deter and disrupt drug dealing within our communities.

“I am delighted that we were able to prevent these drugs from being sold in a residential area and my team and I are committed to continuing this type of Protective Policing in Mid Ulster.

“Anyone with any information about drug dealing in Mid Ulster should contact their local Police on the 101 number or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

The 24-year-old man who was arrested in relation to the seizure has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
