Man arrested following road crash that killed Cookstown man Victor Wylie

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after Cookstown man Victor Wylie was killed in a crash on the Cookstown to Moneymore dual carriageway on Friday.

The man, thought to be the driver of the blue Honda 4x4 that collided with Victor’s tractor, has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

He was also treated in hospital for injuries related to the incident.

Mr Wylie was on his way to a charity vintage tractor rally when the vehicles collided at around 9.30am.

Police, Ambulance and Fire Service crew were all called to the scene.

Victor was laid to rest following a ceremony at Sandholes Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon.

The family described him, as a man with “a heart of gold, a smiling face, someone special who cannot be replaced”.
