Man arrested over road rage incident

POLICE investigating an alleged road rage incident near Sandyknowes on Monday night (January 18) have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

“Shortly after 9pm the driver of a maroon coloured Peugeot 406 was seen driving erratically and at speed between the Sandyknowes junction and the Corr’s Corner roundabout.

“When the driver of the car behind pulled up beside the Peugeot at traffic lights the driver of the Peugeot became abusive and threatening. The second driver did not want to become involved in an altercation and drove off. The driver of the Peugeot then followed him and tailgated him for some distance along the Larne Line towards the Linden Lea roundabout,” a PSNI spokesperson revealed.

“The second driver then drove to Glengormley police station and the 64-year-old driver of the Peugeot was arrested a short time later, questioned and later released on bail pending further enquiries,” she added.

Police officers have appealed for any witnesses to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
